Founded in 1984, TFWA is the world’s biggest duty free and travel retail association, providing the industry with high-quality exhibitions, acclaimed conferences and workshops, and in-depth market research.
TFWA is instrumental in forging close relationships between suppliers and operators, and plays a vital role in representing the interests of its members and the industry as a whole. It provides the global industry with business support and a forum for dynamic development.

TFWA’s commitment to the duty free and travel retail industry is summarised by its motto – by the trade for the trade. As a non-profit-making organisation – and with a membership of 500 companies including some of the world’s best-known brands and suppliers of premium goods – TFWA’s range of products and services are focused purely on delivering value to the industry.

This year’s TFWA 2016 was full of dynamics and surprises for us. Besides meetings and talking to dear friends from the industry, we truly enjoyed testing new editions and the exciting “hunt” for the exclusives at the expo. Just like every year, the promotion of new editions was divided into premieres at the exhibition and special promotions held all over Cannes during evening hours. This olfactive marathon, which is for me, personally, my favorite among all expos, will leave its trace through all of the articles and reports that we will be published by my dear colleagues, Sanja and Miguel, and by myself, in the upcoming period.

Panouge promoted their brands Masaki Matsushima, J.Fath, Panouge, Sue Wong and my favorite, Isabey which is refreshed with new flacons redesigned in the spirit of the vintage edition also present at the Panouge booth. I like Isabey for their unique flacon design which perfectly reflects the compositions inside them, so I couldn’t wait to see how they would look in the redesigned new style. The bottle was first presented at TFWA 2016 and will arrive for sale during 2017. The new flacon design is now used for all four editions: Isabey Gardenia, Isabey Fleurs Nocturne, Isabey La Route d’Emeraude and Isabey Lys Noir.

The bottle base is deltoid-shaped, and colors and details are consistent with previous editions, clearly alluding to the distinctive style of each of the above-mentioned editions. Now, along with the luxurious Perles de Isabey collection, it will look perfect on the shelves of perfumeries. Perles de Isabey bottles will retain the same design inspired by vintage bottle of the Gardenia fragrance originating from 1924.

Chanel is focused on the latest promoted edition, Chanel No5 L’Eau, as well as on the promotion of their new make-up collections. The alluring campaign for the new, fresher and modern Five, “You know me and you don’t”, has attracted the attention of many people ever since we first noticed and tested it in the Chanel boutique of Florence’s city center. At the meeting with Chanel we found out that they were preparing holiday editions and sets which we will announce at Fragrantica.

Massive and attractive bottles immediately drew attention to Pierre Précieuse, exhibiting them on a background of crystals that sparkle under flashlights. It is impossible not to have noticed their booth and I approached them right away to test the collection. The fragrances are contemporary and intense; and their design is inspired by timeless elegance and luxury jewels.

The collection celebrates the beauty of Arabic perfumes, however the compositions, in my opinion, offer the perfect balance between Arabic and European perfumery. The collection carries the name PIERRE PRÉCIEUSE DIAMOND COLLECTION and the perfumes were named White DiamondPure Diamond and Black Diamond. All fragrances come in luxurious packages, as you can see in the photographs.

Lorience focuses on two editions, a new, modern and elegant fragrance for men, Mauboussin Aequalis, and an EDP as a new version of the fragrance presented last year, Le Secret d’Ariele, which was first launched in the concentration of perfume extract.
